Risk Management is about preventing incidents before they occur, and goes hand in hand with efficiency and increased production.

If a heavy motor vehicle is involved in a crash the costs to a company can be enormous, in some instances sufficient to close smaller companies down. At the very least invariably someone is injured, there is a lot of wasted downtime and a company’s reputation maybe tarnished.

Based upon our experience investigating crashes for both insurers and companies we have developed policies and procedures that reduce the risk of incidents and companies exposure to civil and criminal liability.

We are able to assess the needs of companies with vehicle fleets of any size, and provide them with the relevant policies and procedures similar to what industry leaders have in place at a minimal cost.

We encourage companies not to walk the tight rope and wait until a crash occurs, take the necessary steps now to prevent incidents occurring.

Is your company at risk?

• Does your company have adequate employee policies and procedures that clearly outline their legal obligations when carrying out their duties?
• Are your driver’s or other relevant employee’s aware of the requirements outlined in the New Zealand Truck Loading Code?
• Does your company have safe loading policies and procedures in place?
• Do your drivers/loaders know what Static Rollover Threshold (SRT) is?
• Do your drivers/loaders know where to find the SRT parameters on the vehicle?
• Does your company have safe vehicle operation policies and procedures in place?
• Does your company follow a vehicle service schedule that aligns with industry standards and expectations?
• Do employees have a current driver’s license and endorsements to operate company vehicles and machines?
• Are all drivers and dispatch staff aware of the requirements of the work-time and logbook rules 2007?
• Are your drivers working within their legal work-time parameters?
• Does your company monitor driver work-time and keep relevant records to prove they are operating within their work-time hours and a safe work environment and?
• Does your company have a drug and alcohol policy?
• Has your company provided drivers with information relating to fatigue and implemented a fatigue policy?
